The Penthouse Suite

We went looking for housing again this week and think we have everything set for the move to our site for the next 2 years. From what we saw, it looks like we got the penthouse suite! We have 2 rooms and a private bathroom. Apparently that is very unusual in this part of Mexico. We are happy though. The landlord seems very nice and runs the store downstairs, complete with necessary tools and other items for housekeeping.

Other happenings this week includes a real conversation with the little girl next door and her friend. Does that tell you something about our language level?! The boys were playing with matchbox cars and we stopped to admire them and get the lowdown on their favorites and the fastest. Even here 4^th graders learn to play the recorder! We get to listen every night to the practice time. We are making progress! Poco un poco.

Over the weekend we visited some other volunteers located in the state capital and celebrated the 4^th of July.

“Three cheers for the red, white and blue” has a different ring in Spanish! Not quite the same sound, but it was good. We also went to a couple of churches and museums and saw the highest pyramid in Mexico and the 3^rd largest in the world. It was pretty interesting. It sits between two volcanoes.
