We have stayed close to home for the last few months. Kate had an Easter egg hunt in her backyard and Dan, Andrea, James and Kyla came to visit. We had fun hiding eggs for 2 age groups. We told James that if he could see the eggs they were not his (the toddler eggs were filled with yogurt bites so he was not too interested in them anyway).
Then Samuel promptly sat beside his basket studying it while Kyla picked up eggs and put them in his basket instead of hers. Samuel caught on and they both found their eggs. James found most of his easily except for one that was on the play tower. When he helped Kyla slide down though, he discovered it! All in all it was fun for them and us.
After church Easter Sunday we had dinner at Kate's because she had earned an 8 pound ham from the local grocery store. Made a delicious meal and lots of leftovers.
May 2 I flew to Arizona to visit my mother and my sister. The visits with Mother get harder. She has good days and not so good and you never know what you might get. This time was 50-50. Before I left she I had a visit which made it worth while. She had ice cream with us, we went outside and she thrilled to bask in the sun, and we went to a "sing-a-long" all in the course of about 3 hours.
Then Carolyn and I went to Phoenix and visited 2 museums before I flew home on the 6th. One was the Musical Instruments Museum and the other was the Science Museum where The Body Works exhibit was on display. Both were excellent and so much to absorb at one time. The music one spans the entire history of instruments over the whole world and the body was very visual, informative and fascinating. Perhaps there will be another opportunity to return some day.
On Mother's Day Roger and Mike fixed dinner for Kate and me, Andy's family graced the table with flowers, Dan sent a recycled glass hummingbird feeder and Kate brought a box of dark chocolate Whitman's sampler candy! Who could ask for anything better?!
May 11 and 12 we went to Wabash Indiana to an event with a group of retired Extension Educators. We toured the town of Wabash which has done a lot of renovating the downtown area, the Honeywell center, Charley Creek Inn and learned about Modoc the elephant. Interesting and of course always fun to spend time with friends.
Upon returning Roger made a presentation to a group of Master Gardeners in Midland and I enjoyed time with Samuel! Now we are anticipating word from Andy's family and Dan's family that the newest grandchildren are here!
We have many events coming up in the next few months so we will be keeping busy. As always we enjoy having friends and family visit.
