The first day of summer

The first day of summer 2011 brought a huge torrential rain. Tuesday June 21 Freeland got about 5 inches in 1.5 hours. In the flash of lightening Roger saw the garden flooded like a lake. As the water rushed toward the storm drain it gave insight to the record flooding in the United States this spring. The next morning we accessed the damage. Here are some pictures. Most things recovered as soon as it dried up, but a few vegetables had to be sacrificed. Lesson learned, plant at the top of the hill.

Waiting and meeting

We have been waiting for the new grandchildren to arrive and they finally have. May 15, 2011 Kerry gave birth to Brennan Eliza Moll 8 lbs 13 oz. We have seen pictures and she is a keeper for sure! We will soon meet her and get a chance to snuggle with her. Addison and Emme appear to have taken well to the roles of big sisters.
3 weeks later on June 5, 2011 Andrea gave birth to Parker Thomas Moll at 7 lbs 13 oz. He too is doing well and a precious baby. We were able to be at Dan's house to keep Kyla while they were at the hospital. Kyla greeted Parker with wonder and fascination. She discovered his nose, eyes and forehead.
On the following Sunday, we watched Kate, Mike and Samuel meet Parker. It was fun to watch the two older kids play together. Kyla has command of animal sounds and names while Samuel speaks perfect gibberish sentences. I am sure he is telling us something if only we could understand.
